Red Wings winger Patrick Kane is out for the remainder of the team's current road trip, according to a report by Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
Kane is dealing with a lower-body injury, says head coach Derek Lalonde, which he suffered in the first period of Sunday's win in Toronto. The 35-year-old, who underwent hip surgery in the off-season before signing with Detroit in December as a free agent, lasted just 1:07 before suffering this most recent injury.
It's not known if the injury is related to Kane's long-standing hip issues. Lalonde said the veteran had returned to Detroit.
Kane has seven goals and 16 points in 19 games this year after signing with the Red Wings in late November.
The Red Wings play in Florida on Wednesday and then at Carolina on Friday as part of their current three-game road trip, which began with Sunday's win in Toronto.
