The Detroit Red Wings signed defenceman Erik Gustafsson to a two-year, $4 million contract Monday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has learned.
Gustafsson had 31 points (six goals and 25 assists) in 76 games with the New York Rangers during the regular season. He also had three assists in 16 playoff games.
The 32-year-old from Nynashamn, Sweden, was drafted in the fourth round, 93rd overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in 2012.
He has 222 points (45 goals and 177 assists) in 455 career games over eight seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs and Rangers.
Gustafsson set career highs of 17 goals, 43 assists and 60 points with the Blackhawks during the 2018-19 season.
