Tyler Bertuzzi will miss the next six weeks after having surgery on his left hand.
Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde shared the news on Friday, following Bertuzzi’s placement on IR earlier in the week.
The injury marks Bertuzzi’s second hand injury this season. In October, the forward injured his right hand while blocking a shot and missed nine games as a result.
The 27-year-old’s tenacious play has held him to just nine games this season, notching a goal and three assists.
Detroit also recalled Austin Czarnik from the Grand Rapids Griffins in a corresponding move.
