Washington Capitals defenceman Trevor van Riemsdyk will miss the team's Game 4 against the New York Rangers on Sunday due to an upper-body injury, according the NHL.com's Tom Gulitti.
van Riemsdyk took a crushing hit from Rangers forward Matt Rempe in Friday's Game 4 and exited shortly afterwards.
After the game, Capitals defenceman John Carlson had some thoughts on Rempe's hit.
"I'm sick and tired of losing defencemen to 'clean hits,'" Carlson said to NBC4 Sports. "... It's frustrating how guys can get injured and it's legal."
The Capitals are on the brink of elimination after a 3-1 loss in Game 3, falling behind 3-0 to the Rangers in the first-round playoff series.
