Report: Chytil not with Canucks for start of six-game road trip

The Vancouver Canucks have embarked on their six-game road trip without Filip Chytil.

According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, Chytil did not accompany Canucks for the start of the trip, which opens Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues.

Chytil is dealing with a concussion he suffered in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks on March 14 after Jason Dickinson hit him from behind and into the boards.

Chytil, who has a previous history of concussions, missed Vancouver's next two games against the Utah Hockey Club and Winnipeg Jets.

The 25-year-old was acquired by the Canucks in the blockbuster trade that sent J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers on Jan 31.

In 15 games with Vancouver, he has two goals and four assists and is a minus-11. He had 11 goals and nine assists through 41 games with New York before the trade.

The latest update from head coach Rick Tocchet came on Tuesday when he told reporters that Chytil had been feeling "a little bit better" but that the team wanted to make sure the injury was handled properly.

The Canucks are in the fight for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Catch Thursday's game against the Blues on Sportsnet Pacific and Sportsnet+ starting at 7 p.m. PT.
