Notable free agent defenceman John Klingberg has parted ways with his longtime agent, Peter Wallen, and is now represented by Newport Sports Management, per Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.
Klingberg has been testing the market as an unrestricted free agent since free agency opened on July 13 after it became clear during the 2021-2022 season that he would not sign an extension with the Dallas Stars.
Sitting at number two on Luke Fox's top remaining UFAs, there has been much curiosity on where the 27-year-old right-shot defenceman will land, including rumours that the Stars re-entered the fold at one point. He remains unsigned, but there is speculation that a few teams are still in on the Klingberg sweepstakes, according to Fox.
Newport Sports Management's roster of NHL players includes Anthony Cirelli, Erik Karlsson and Josh Norris who recently signed an eight-year, $63.3 million contract with the Senators.
