The Seattle Kraken have opted not to take forward Max Domi from the Columbus Blue Jackets in Wednesday’s expansion draft, choosing instead to pick defenceman Gavin Bayreuther, according to Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli.
Domi, 26, struggled in his first season in Columbus, recording nine goals and 15 assists in 54 games after arriving via trade from the Montreal Canadiens in October 2020.
Domi has one year remaining on the two-year, $10.6-million contract he signed prior to the 2020-21 campaign.
Bayreuther, meanwhile, is an unrestricted free agent who had one goal in nine games with the Blue Jackets last season. The 27-year-old also had 12 points in 14 AHL game’s with the Cleveland Monsters.
