The Toronto Maple Leafs are shaking things up amid a three-game skid.
Veteran winger Vinni Lettieri and sophomore goalie Artur Akhtyamov have been recalled from the AHL, the team announced on Monday ahead of its matchup against the San Jose Sharks on Sportsnet+ (7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT).
Lettieri also appears on the Maple Leafs' official roster page. It is not yet apparent whose roster spot he is taking. However, forward William Nylander missed morning skate due to illness, the Maple Leafs said.
Nylander will be a game-time decision, head coach Jim Hiller told reporters.
Lettieri, the 31-year-old winger, last played in the NHL two seasons ago, when he skated in 26 games for the Boston Bruins, registering three goals and two assists. In 155 career NHL games, also with the New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild, Lettieri has 15 goals and 17 assists.
He spent last season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, leading the team to the Calder Cup championship with 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 23 playoff games. He started this regular season ablaze as well, with three goals and six assists in five contests.
Akhtyamov, 24, has yet to suit up for the Maple Leafs this season after making three appearances (two starts) in 2025-26. He posted a 5.24 GAA and .877 save percentage over that span.
The Russian netminder also played a role in the Marlies' Calder Cup run from last season. He made 37 regular-season appearances, maintaining a 2.88 GAA and .904 save percentage and improved those numbers to 2.22 and .924 through 22 playoff games. In three games for the Marlies this season, Akhtyamov has allowed nine goals for a .882 save percentage.
He will back up Sergei Bobrovsky against the Sharks and Anthony Stolarz on the second half of the back-to-back Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He was originally taken by the Maple Leafs in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2020 draft.
