New York Rangers defenceman Ryan Lindgren is still being evaluated by medical staff after leaving the Stadium Series game on Sunday against the Islanders with an upper-body injury, head coach Peter Laviolette told reporters.
Lindgren exited the game early in the third period after the follow-through from Islanders' defenceman Alex Romanov caught Lindgren in the face. He fell to the ice clutching his face, and stayed down for several seconds, during which time the Islanders scored.
He was able to get up with the help of teammates and was met with a member of the training staff before heading off. There was no penalty called on the play.
The 26-year-old is being evaluated for an upper-body injury, per Laviolette, and a timetable on his return is still to be determined.
Lindgren, selected 49th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2016 NHL Draft, has two goals and eight assists in 58 games for the Rangers this season.
