The Buffalo Sabres have placed scoring winger Jeff Skinner on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
Skinner was injured on an open-ice hit from Nathan MacKinnon in the second period of Wednesday's 5-1 loss.
The hit sent Skinner hard into the boards but he was able to skate off the ice under his own power. However, he did not return to the game.
The 31-year-old has 12 goals and 22 points in 30 games for the Sabres this season.
Forward Brett Murray was recalled from AHL Rochester in a corresponding move.
