Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov has left Russia to return to the United States, The Athletic's Michael Russo reports.
Multiple media reports from Russia earlier in the off-season said Kaprizov was wanted in his native country for allegedly buying a fake military ID card in 2017.
There were also reports that his military exemption expired at the end of June.
Russo writes he is expected to fly to Minnesota from New York on Tuesday.
The Wild, Russo had reported, were urging Kaprizov to try to return to the U.S. from Russia, which remains at war after invading Ukraine earlier this year, as soon as possible.
Russo has reported Kaprizov's previous attempts to return to the U.S. were denied because of work visa issues, and he opted to go back to Russia.
