Robertson brothers match Bure feat with multiple goals on same night

Hugh and Mercedes Robertson must be smiling somewhere.

Their sons, Jason and Nick, combined for five goals to lead their respective NHL teams to victories on Sunday night.

Jason's hat trick and Nick's two goal-effort made the Americans the first pair of brothers to each score multiple times on the same night since Russians Pavel and Valeri Bure did so on March 1, 2000.

“Really excited for my parents. They got to jump up five times tonight. They have double TVs going," Nick told reporters in Chicago, per Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun.

Each brother did all of his damage in the second period.

Jason, the Dallas Stars forward, needed only the middle 20-minute window for his hat trick. His first two goals each gave the Stars the lead, while his third stood up as the eventual winner in a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders.

Two of Jason's goals were scored on the power play.

Nick, the Toronto Maple Leafs winger, made use of the man-advantage for his first goal as well, bringing his team level with the Chicago Blackhawks after finishing a net-front feed from Max Domi.

Then, with 15 seconds left in the second period, it was the same story as a Domi feed from the corner led to a Robertson finish that briefly gave the Leafs a 3-1 lead.

Toronto would surrender a goal eight seconds later, but went on to beat Chicago 5-2.

The Robertsons now have a combined 33 goals on the season as Jason is up to 23 while Nick reached double-digits with his 10th.
