As if a blown 4-0 lead wasn't bad enough, the Buffalo Sabres also watched their captain suffer a familiar injury.
After his team fell 5-4 to the visiting Colorado Avalanche to extend its losing streak to four games, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said star defenceman Rasmus Dahlin exited during the third period because of back spasms, per Lance Lysowski of the Buffalo News.
It's the same problem that hampered Dahlin for much of training camp.
Named the Sabres' captain this season, Dahlin has six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 24 games.
The first-overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, Dahlin has been an All-Star the past three seasons.
The Sabres, trying to end the longest active playoff drought in the NHL, now have to cross their fingers that Dahlin's injury doesn't keep him out long.
