Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin will have to dig into his wallet for getting his stick up Monday night.
Dahlin has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowed under the CBA, for high-sticking Anton Lundell of the Florida Panthers, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday.
Dahlin was defending Lundell in the Sabres' zone when he swung his stick around and nailed the Panthers forward high in the third period.
The Sabres defenceman was given a two-minute minor for slashing and two for roughing.
Florida's Sam Bennett went on to score on the power play to give the Panthers a 4-2 lead. The visitors eventually won 5-2.
