Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen day to day with lower-body injury

Buffalo Sabres No. 1 goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is day to day with a lower-body injury, the team announced before Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers.

Eric Comrie was given the start in place of Luukkonen while the Sabres recalled Dustin Tokarski from AHL Rochester.

After a 4-0 loss to Florida, coach Don Granato told reporters there is a good chance Luukkonen will be able to return for the team's next game Saturday against the Minnesota Wild.

Rookie goaltender Devon Levi, who started the year as Buffalo's No. 1 but battled inconsistency, remains in Rochester, where he started on Wednesday.

Luukkonen, 24, has been one of the few bright spots for the Sabres this season. He is 13-13 with a 2.51 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and four shutouts.

The Finnish goalie, selected in the second round (54th overall) by the Sabres in the 2017 NHL Draft, has a 1.47 GAA in his past 10 starts.

Comrie was set to play in his first NHL game since Dec. 5.

Meanwhile, the Sabres placed forward Jack Quinn (lower-body injury) on injured reserve.
