The Buffalo Sabres made roster moves on Tuesday recalling Peyton Krebs, a key piece involved in the Jack Eichel trade.
Krebs, who alongside Alex Tuch was acquired from Vegas on Nov. 4, may make his Sabres debut at home against the New Jersey Devils (10-15-5) on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old centre has four goals and 14 points in 16 games for the Rochester Americans, Buffalo’s AHL affiliate.
In 13 NHL games with Vegas, Krebs recorded one assist.
“Peyton is a guy we talk about regularly,” said general manager Kevyn Adams in a press release. “I watch every game in Rochester whether it’s in person or on video and he’s a player that we’re really excited about. He’s coming along here.”
Along with Krebs, the Sabres recalled two other skaters from Rochester: winger JJ Peterka, who has 20 points in 23 games, and defender Arttu Ruotsalainen, who’s recorded two assists in six games in the AHL and 10 points in 33 NHL contests.
The moves come as the Sabres have five players in COVID-19 protocol, including Jeff Skinner and Dylan Cozens.
The Buffalo Sabres are sixth in the Atlantic with a 10-15-5 record.
