The Buffalo Sabres are getting their most dangerous forward back.
Tage Thompson will return Wednesday against the visiting Minnesota Wild after missing the past five games with a lower-body injury, the team said.
Thompson told reporters on Tuesday he was held out of the last two games of the Sabres' California road trip for precautionary reasons.
The Sabres (11-9-1) have won three in a row to climb within a point of third place in the Atlantic Division.
Thompson has 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 16 games this season.
