The Los Angeles Kings have acquired goalie Erik Portillo from the Buffalo Sabres for a 2023 third-round pick Wednesday.
Portillo, originally a 2019 third-round draft pick by the Sabres, has yet to take the ice in the NHL.
The Gothenburg, Sweden native has spent the past three seasons playing for the University of Michigan in the Big-10.
He has made 80 appearances for the Wolverines since 2020 with a 2.45 GAA and .919 save percentage. The 22-year-old was named to the All-Big-10 second-team last season.
He is eligible for free agency this summer.
The Kings traded away long-time netminder Jonathan Quick to the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier on Wednesday to acquire defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov and goalie Joonas Korpisalo.
