Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov isn't expected to return from his knee injury his week but will join the team for their upcoming four-game road trip.
Samsonov sustained the injury in Toronto's 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Nov. 5 during Brad Marchand's penalty shot in the second period.
The 25-year-old Samsonov, who signed as a free agent with the Maple Leafs this season, holds a 6-2-0 record, 2.23 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in eight games.
Meanwhile, defenceman T.J. Brodie will remain at home as his recovery from an oblique injury is not going as planned.
Brodie blocked a shot from Chad Ruhwedel of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Nov. 11 and looked to be in some discomfort. He was then a late scratch from Toronto's game against Vancouver the following day.
The 32-year-old Brodie has two assists in 15 games this season and is averaging 21:23 minutes of ice time.
The Maple Leafs (10-5-4) are second in the Atlantic Division with three wins in their past four games.
Before hitting the road, Toronto hosts the New York Islanders on Monday night. Watch on Sportsnet or SN NOW beginning at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
