The Boston Bruins aren't used to lingering around .500 — and it appears as though they don't plan to much longer.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported during the "Saturday Headlines" segment on Hockey Night in Canada that the Bruins are seeking change and that there's "intensity" within the organization.
"They've definitely been out there looking to see if there's something they can do to shake them up," Friedman said.
Boston (8-8-3) still sits third in the Atlantic Division, but dropped a 3-2 overtime decision against St. Louis earlier Saturday, two days after a 7-2 drubbing at the hands of the Dallas Stars.
Likewise, the Nashville Predators — another team not living up to pre-season expectations — are in the hunt for help at centre and on the blue line.
The Predators are sitting last in the Central Division at 5-10-3 after an off-season splurge that included the additions of star forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault.
But the Bruins and Predators may have to pay a hefty price if either is looking to add a "forward with edge," as Friedman noted those players will be "highly coveted."
Meanwhile, Columbus is looking into how to handle David Jiricek's lack of playing time recently.
Jiricek, a defenceman, was the sixth-overall pick in 2022 but has appeared in just five games this season.
Friedman said Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell "hopes to sort this out over the next few days."
