The Ottawa Senators have acquired defenceman Josh Brown from the Florida Panthers in exchange for their fourth-round pick (95th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, the team announced Friday.
The 26-year-old native of London, Ont., recorded eight points in a career-high 56 games with the Panthers last season, his second in the NHL.
“Josh Brown is a big, strong defenceman who plays a physical style of game,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion in a press release.
“He’s a defensive defenceman who skates very well and who is exceptionally competitive. He’s also a very good shot-blocker who clears a lot of space in front of the net. We’re looking forward to seeing him in our lineup.”
The sixth-round selection (152nd overall) in the 2013 draft also suited up for 37 games with the Panthers in 2018-19, pitching in with two points.
The deal leaves the Senators with 12 picks in the 2020 draft, including nine in the first 70.
