Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg is expected to be out until at least after the All-Star break, head coach Jacques Martin told reporters Saturday.
Forsberg, who was placed on the long-term injured reserve, sustained a groin injury while attempting to make a pad save during the first period of Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. He had made seven saves and allowed one goal before exiting the game.
"It's probably anything between three to four weeks," Martin said. "But you look at All-Star break, by the time we come back after All-Star break, then it's probably at least three weeks."
The 31-year-old Forsberg holds a 7-8-0 record, 3.35 goals-against average and .889 save percentage over 16 games this season.
Ottawa recalled goaltender Mads Sogaard from the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League on Friday.
The 23-year-old Sogaard, who has yet to play with Ottawa this season, posted an 8-6-3 record, a 3.32 goals-against average and .889 save percentage in 19 games with the club last season.
Martin also did not have an update on forward Josh Norris, who missed Thursday's game due to an upper-body injury.
"He seemed to be getting better, but I don't think he's skated yet," Martin said. "Just manage it on a day-to-day basis."
Norris was hurt during Tuesday's loss to the Calgary Flames.
With just over four minutes remaining in the third period, Norris stumbled over Flames forward Elias Lindholm, causing him to cartwheel in the air and land awkwardly.
Norris remained on the ice, clutching his head as teammate Brady Tkachuk immediately called for training staff. He was eventually able to skate off on his own.
The 24-year-old Norris has 12 goals and 20 points in 32 games this season.
The slumping Senators (14-23-0) sit in the basement of the Eastern Conference and look to snap a five-game losing streak when they host the San Jose Sharks, who are last in the Western Conference, on Saturday.
