The Ottawa Senators have signed defenceman Artem Zub to a four-year contract extension worth $18.4 million, the team announced Wednesday.
Zub will have a 10-team no-trade list for the duration of his contract, which begins on July 1.
The contract breaks down as follows:
2023-24: $4M
2024-25: $4.8M
2025-26: $4.8M
2026-27: $4.8M
The 27-year-old was eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer before signing the deal.
Zub has 11 goals and 29 assists in 142 career NHL games, all with Ottawa. Since joining the Senators in 2020-21, the Russian defenceman has been a rock for the team's blue line.
Before entering the NHL, Zub, who was never drafted, played parts of seven seasons in the KHL — winning a Gagarin Cup with league powerhouse SKA St. Petersburg in 2017.
"Artem's transition to North American hockey has been remarkable," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion in a press release. "He has worked hard to establish himself as an excellent NHL player and a strong defender. He consistently helps make us a better defensive team while he's on the ice. We're pleased to reach agreement with him on an extension of this length."
Zub has also represented Russia internationally on several occasions, winning gold as part of the Olympic Athletes from Russia team at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics and bronze with Russia at both the 2017 and 2019 world championships.
