The struggling Ottawa Senators just got hit with some bad news on their blue line.
Defenceman Artem Zub suffered a fracture in his foot and will be sidelined for "a while," per head coach Travis Green.
Though it's not clear when exactly he suffered the injury, he blocked a shot in either the first or second period against the Vancouver Canucks, according to Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch, but he was able to finish the game.
The 29-year-old has struggled with injuries to begin the season, missing nearly a month after suffering a concussion against the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 14. He's played eight games since returning, registering two assists in 18:19 of ice time.
The undrafted right-hander currently plays alongside Jake Sanderson on the Senators' top pair. He's in the second of a four-year, $18.4 million contract.
Reeling from their fifth-straight loss, Ottawa plays host to the Calgary Flames on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
