• Senators' Brady Tkachuk out vs. Lightning, considered day-to-day

When the Ottawa Senators look to take down the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night, they'll have to do it without their captain.

Forward Brady Tkachuk will not play against the Lightning and is considered day-to-day, head coach Travis Green told reporters, after the 25-year-old missed morning skate.

This will be the second consecutive game that Tkachuk has missed after he sat out Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres with an upper-body injury.

It's unclear when he sustained the injury.

Tkachuk missed a pair of games with a lower-body injury coming out of the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Tkachuk leads the Senators with 29 goals this season, adding 26 assists in 71 games played. Ottawa is comfortably in the first Eastern wild-card spot with a 39-29-6 record, five points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens, who sit in the second wild-card spot.

Meanwhile, forward Nick Cousins returned to the ice for the first time in a non-contact jersey since suffering a knee injury in January. He was expected to be out six to eight weeks.
