Ottawa Senators star centre Josh Norris, who has missed 90 games over the last two seasons with a shoulder injury, "tweaked something" at the team's captains' skate last week and will start training camp in a yellow non-contact jersey.
GM Pierre Dorion provided the update on Wednesday, adding that Norris would be taking part in camp but would wear the yellow sweater because the team is being "extra cautious" while Norris recovers from off-season surgery. Dorion added that the concern is not serious, and if the season started tomorrow, Norris would play.
Norris was initially injured in an October game against Arizona but wanted to avoid surgery for what would have been the second time in his career. But after three months of rehab, a return in January ended after three games when he re-injured the shoulder.
Norris, 24, is entering the second year of an eight-year, $63.6-million contract signed in July 2022.
Dorion also said Wednesday that Thomas Chabot, who had surgery and treatment in the off-season for a torn ligament and cracked bone in his wrist, is ready to go. He also added that Tyler Boucher is still out with a groin issue.
