Senators' Chabot suffers broken hand, unlikely to play again this season

Senators head coach D.J Smith confirms that top defenceman Thomas Chabot has a fractured hand, and although there is no timeline for a return, he speculates that it's likely season ending.

Ottawa Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot suffered a broken hand in Wednesday night's game against the Columbus Blue jackets, head coach D.J. Smith said Thursday, casting doubts over whether or not Chabot will be able to play again this season.

Chabot appeared to sustain the injury after receiving a hit from Sean Kuraly early in the second period. He could be seen favouring his arm and, as soon as he could, skated off the ice. He did not return.

In 54 games this season, Chabot has six goals and 33 points while averaging a career-high 26:42 of ice time.
