It was not a good start to the week for Jacob Bernard-Docker.
The Ottawa Senators' defenceman had to be helped off the ice Monday morning after slamming hard into the boards during practice.
Bernard-Docker looked to be chasing a loose puck before colliding with another Senators' player and the boards.
He immediately appeared to be in pain and needed the help of multiple teammates and staff to get back to the locker room.
The 24-year-old has made 25 appearances for Ottawa this season, logging one goal and three assists on an average of 13:01 ice time. His four points rank fourth on the squad amongst defencemen.
A former first-round pick, 26th overall by the Senators in 2018, Bernard-Docker has played in 129 games through five seasons. The Alberta native has racked up five goals and 15 assists in that span.
If Ottawa is going to snap its two-game skid when it visits the Red Wings in Detroit on Tuesday, it may have to happen with Bernard-Docker.
