Ottawa Senators defenceman Jake Sanderson was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings after suffering a lower-body injury.
While it wasn't immediately apparent when or how Sanderson suffered the injury, he left the Senators bench in the first period and did not return for the second.
Sanderson, 21, has 24 points (seven goals and 17 assists) in 47 games this season, his second in the NHL. The six-foot-two blue liner was selected by Ottawa fifth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Following Wednesday's game, the Senators do not play again until Feb. 10 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
