Ottawa Senators centre Josh Norris left Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes after sustaining an upper-body injury and will not return.
The injury occurred in the first period when Norris received a hit from Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov that sent him tumbling back-first into the boards. Norris then laid on the ice for some moments before skating off and heading to the dressing room on his own power.
The 22-year-old is in the midst of a stellar 2021-22 campaign with 18 goals through 35 games. His injury comes just days after fellow first-liner Drake Batherson fell victim to a blindside hit from Buffalo Sabres goaltender Aaron Dell, who was suspended three games. Batherson has been ruled out for two months due to a high ankle sprain.
