The Ottawa Senators have placed assistant coach Davis Payne in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol, the team announced Monday.

Payne, a former head coach of the St. Louis Blues, is the only person among staff or players currently in protocol for the Senators.

Ottawa was the first team to have games postponed this season due to an outbreak that sidelined 10 players and assistant coach Jack Capuano in November.

The Senators' next scheduled game is on Dec. 27 against the Washington Capitals as all cross-border games through Christmas have been postponed.
