The Ottawa Senators recalled defenceman Maxence Guenette from the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.
The move comes a day after defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker was helped off the ice in practice after crashing hard into the boards.
Guenette has nine points (three goals and six assists) in 27 games with Belleville this season.
The 23-year-old from L'Ancienne-Lorette, Que., was drafted in the seventh round, 187th overall, by the Senators in 2019.
He has played eight games with Ottawa over the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons with zero points and two penalty minutes.
The Senators (19-17-2) visit the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night.
