A reinforcement up front is coming for the Ottawa Senators. And judging on a key absence at practice, it may be needed.
Forward Angus Crookshank was recalled from AHL Belleville, the team announced on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, forward Brady Tkachuk and defenceman Nick Jensen were not seen at practice ahead of a game against the Buffalo Sabres.
Crookshank, 25, has appeared in just one NHL game this season. But across 60 contests in Belleville, the winger has scored 22 goals, adding 18 assists.
He made his NHL debut with the Senators last season, skating in 13 games while compiling two goals and one assist.
It remains to be seen whether Crookshank, of North Vancouver, B.C., will slot in when the Senators host the Sabres.
The five-foot-11 forward skated on a fourth line with Adam Gaudette and Matthew Highmore.
Live coverage of the game is available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ beginning at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
