The Ottawa Senators have recalled goaltender Mads Sogaard from AHL Belleville, the team announced Friday.
The move comes after goalie Anton Forsberg exited Thursday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with a groin injury. Forsberg was expected to get an MRI on Friday to determine the severity of the injury.
The injury happened late in the first period as Forsberg reached out with his leg to make a save. He was helped off the ice by teammates and replaced in net by Joonas Korpisalo.
Forsberg, 31, has appeared in 15 games for the Senators this season, posting a .889 save percentage and 3.34 goals-against average. This is his fourth season in Ottawa.
Sogaard, 23, hasn't played for the Senators yet this season. In 19 games with Ottawa last season, he had an 8-6-3 record, a 3.32 goals-against average and .889 save percentage.
