Senators sign forward Egor Sokolov to one-year, two-way contract

The Ottawa Senators have inked forward Egor Sokolov to a one-year, two-way contract.

The contract carries a value of $775,000 when Sokolov plays in the NHL and $120,000 when he is in the American Hockey League.

The 23-year-old appeared in 70 games with the Senators’ AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators, scoring 21 goals and 59 points. He also appeared in five games for Ottawa, registering two points including his first goal on April 8 against the Tampa Bay Lightning

“Egor has steadily improved over each of his first three professional seasons,” Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said in a statement. “He’s a natural goal scorer who’s also diligently worked on other facets of his game. It’s both ours and his expectation that he continues his upward trajectory in the year ahead.”

The Senators selected Sokolov in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He was recognized as both the Belleville Sens’ Most Valuable Player and its Man of the Year for the 2022-23 season as the player who demonstrates the most commitment to the team’s home community.
