Senators trade defenceman Mike Reilly to Bruins for draft pick

Mike Reilly talked about players he knows in the Bruins organization, like his former teammate Charlie Coyle.

The Ottawa Senators have traded veteran defenceman Mike Reilly to the Boston Bruins for a 2022 third-round pick.

Reilly, 27, had 19 assists in 40 games for the Senators this season.

Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports Reilly, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, had been in contract negotiations with the Senators on an extension before the trade was made.

The Bruins, following an 8-1 loss to the Capitals on Sunday night, sit four points clear of the New York Rangers with two games in hand for the final playoff spot in the East Division.
