Ottawa Senators fans can seemingly breathe a collective sigh of relief as goaltender Linus Ullmark was back on the ice Wednesday, taking part in practice as a full participant.
The prized off-season addition and 2023 Vezina winner had tweaked something in camp and was subsequently sidelined on Tuesday for the Senators' pre-season contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to head coach Travis Green, the 30-year-old goalie is "fine" and the team is just being "cautious."
Ullmark added Wednesday that they "had it all under control" and that he's hopeful to play against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, per Sportsnet's Alex Adams.
Ullmark was acquired in June in a trade with the Boston Bruins in exchange for goalie Joonas Korpisalo, centre Mark Kastelic and a first-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Ottawa took a gamble acquiring the Swedish netminder as he heads into the final year of his contract, hoping he could solve the team's longstanding struggles in goal.
Meanwhile, backup Anton Forsberg stepped between the pipes on Tuesday in Ullmark's absence, stopping 19 of 20 shots he faced against the Maple Leafs.
Unfortunately, the news for Senators defenceman Artem Zub was not as good, as Green said Zub is dealing with a lower-body injury and is currently being evaluated. Green added that there would be additional information provided on the defenceman later on Wednesday.
Zub, 28, had five goals and 20 assists in 69 games with the Senators last season.
