San Jose Sharks’ Erik Karlsson, Colorado Avalanche’s Cale Makar and New York Rangers’ Adam Fox are the 2022-23 Norris Trophy finalists as the league’s top defenceman, the NHL announced Thursday.
Karlsson recorded a career-high 101 points this season, becoming the sixth blueliner to reach the 100-point milestone and the first since Brian Leetch in 1991-92.
The 32-year-old is a two-time Norris Trophy winner, having claimed the title in 2011-12 and 2014-15.
Playing all 82 games in 2022-23, Karlsson scored 25 goals and recorded 76 assists with a minus-22.
As the defending Norris Trophy winner, Makar recorded 66 points (17 goals, 49 assists) this season.
Makar missed extended time, playing in 60 games compared to the 77 he suited up for last season.
Fox registered 72 points (12 goals, 60 assists) with a plus-28 in 82 games this season.
Like Karlsson and Makar, Fox has also previously claimed the award, taking the honours in the shortened 2020-21 season.
The NHL Awards show is June 26 in Nashville.
