Winnipeg Jets associate coach Scott Arniel says the team is hopeful head coach Rick Bowness, who is sidelined with COVID-19, will make his regular-season debut behind the bench with the team Wednesday in Colorado against the Avalanche.
Arniel said Saturday that Bowness will not travel to Dallas, where his old team, the Stars, hosts the Jets on Monday.
Arniel was given the head coaching reins prior to Friday's season-opening 4-1 win over the New York Rangers.
The Jets hired Bowness in the off-season after the Stars opted not to renew his contract.
Bowness guided the Stars to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020, missed the playoffs in 2021 and lost in the first round last season.
