Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jason Spezza and Winnipeg Jets forward Neal Pionk will have separate hearings with the NHL Department of Player Safety for incidents that occurred during Sunday’s game between the two teams.
Pionk’s hearing will be conducted today while Spezza’s date and time has yet to be determined.
This stems from Pionk kneeing Maple Leafs defenceman Rasmus Sandin during the third period. Spezza retaliated about two minutes later, which led to a scrum.
The department also announced that Toronto forward Wayne Simmonds was fined $2,250, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Winnipeg’s Jansen Harkins.
