  • Sportsnet's Bieksa, Forsythe win 2024 Canadian Screen Awards

    The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television began its four-day rollout of the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards on Tuesday — and Sportsnet came away with two prizes in the process.

    Sportsnet was named as the recipient for "Best Sports Analyst" and “Best Direction: Live Sports Event.”

    Best Sports Analyst

    This award was given to Sportsnet hockey analyst Kevin Bieksa for his work on Hockey Night in Canada throughout the 2023-24 season.

    Bieksa joined the program in 2020 after ending his 13-year NHL playing career in 2018. The 42-year-old spent the majority of his career as a defenceman with the Vancouver Canucks.

        Best Direction: Live Sports Event

        This award was presented to director Ron Forsythe for the way his team captured Game 5 of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final that saw the Vegas Golden Knights hoist the Cup.

        Forsythe is an award-winning live sports directors whose career has spanned more than three decades. His assignments have includes Stanley Cup Finals, Olympics, Grey Cups and much more.
