The St. Louis Blues are getting a big boost to the lineup Tuesday.
Star forward Robert Thomas will centre the top line alongside Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou for a divisional tilt against the Minnesota Wild, the team announced.
Thomas suffered a fractured ankle against the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 22 and was to be re-evaluated in six weeks. His return to the lineup marks only four weeks since the injury.
“It’s frustrating being out but I invested a lot in myself and I’m pretty happy with the result and getting back so soon," Thomas said Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Jeremy Rutherford. "I’m excited to be back in the lineup and looking forward to getting in the trenches with the guys.”
The speedy recovery by the 25-year-old should help the Blues, who have struggled offensively since Thomas' injury. St. Louis has gone 4-7-1 and has scored two goals or less in seven games.
The Blues rank among the bottom four teams in goals per game (2.47), shots on goal (26.1) and power-play percentage (13.6) this season.
Thomas has one goal and five assists in seven games. He had 26 goals and 86 points last year.
