When it comes to Tampa’s 0-2 hole in the Stanley Cup Final, there’s some good news and naturally, there’s some bad news too.
The good news is that it’s just 2-0, a deficit Tampa’s erased before —as recent as this year’s Eastern Conference Final against the New York Rangers. The bad news however is that Colorado is a perfect 7-0 away from Ball Arena in this year’s postseason. That said, never underestimate the heart of a champion.
Ahead of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight in Tampa, here are some prop bets to consider:
PROP #1: Steven Stamkos Anytime Goal (+155)
Following the embarrassing Game 2 loss on Saturday night, the Tampa captain was quick to back his squad proclaiming, “Let’s see what we’re made of.” Through two games, the 32-year-old has failed to register a point and has tallied just four shots on goal. Bottom line: it’s time to step up. Stamkos has nine goals in 19 total playoff games including five in six games against the Rangers in the Conference Finals. On top of that, he potted 42 in the regular season. It’s go-time.
PROP #2: Valeri Nichushkin Over 2.5 SOG (-175)
Through two games in the series, Nichushkin has been arguably the best player on the ice. In Game 1, the pending UFA tallied a goal, an assist and six shots on goal. For an encore performance in Game 2, he scored twice and mustered five shots on net. Even though the shot prop price is starting to get a bit steep, considering how hot Nichushkin’s been, it would be foolish to stay away right now.
PROP #3: Nikita Kucherov Over 0.5 Assists (-140)
Just like Stamkos, the Bolts will need way more from Kucherov tonight or they’ll be in deep doodoo. So far, the 29-year-old winger has one measly assist through two games. If you’re looking for a positive big picture perspective, Kucherov has six helpers in his past eight outings and 17 in 19 total playoff games.
PROP #4: Mikko Rantanen Over 0.5 Assists (-130)
Rantanen is on a tremendous heater right now and no one’s really talking about it. The 25-year-old, who’s tallied five helpers through two games so far in the series, is currently riding a modest six-game point streak (four goals, seven assists). Additionally, he’s notched at least a point in 11 of his past 12 outings. Rantanen is now up to 17 assists in 16 playoff games. Moral of the story: man on fire.
