Stanley Cup Playoffs Player Props: Flames' Mangiapane, difference-maker in Game 7?

Three Game 7’s down, two more to go.

13 days later, the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs will conclude tonight with a pair of seventh and deciding games.

With a win at home against the Dallas Stars, the Calgary Flames would advance to Round 2 and set up the first Battle of Alberta in the postseason since 1991.

In the meantime, the Rangers are home to the Penguins. New York is trying to come all the way back from a 3-1 series deficit.

With all that in mind, here are some prop bets to consider:

PROP #1: Andrew Mangiapane Over 0.5 Points (+130)

Playing a hunch here, but there’s just something calming about Mangiapane. The 26-year-old potted 35 goals in the regular season, he has just one in six in Round 1. It’s been a very tight series. We’ve seen Mangiapane step up on the big stage before, he won tournament MVP and Gold for Canada at last year’s World Championship.

PROP #2: Mikael Backlund over 2.5 SOG (-125)

Funny enough, Mangiapane and Tyler Toffoli, who are known for their goal scoring prowess, have taken the back seat to their centreman in the series. Through six games, Backlund has scored three times on 19 shots on goal. Through 82 regular season contests, he averaged 2.6 shots per game. Backlund’s cleared the 2.5 number in five of six in the series.

PROP #3: Jake Guentzel Anytime Goal (+150) + Over 3.5 SOG (-120)

Through six games, the Rangers have had absolutely no answer for Guentzel. The sniper has seven goals and has now lit the lamp 33 times in 57 career playoff games. At this point, it’s inexcusable to not at least take a flier on an anytime goal. Furthermore, the winger has mustered a total of 34 shots on goal and has cleared the 3.5 number in five of six outings. Moral of the story: Keep going to the well, there’s plenty of water.

Also, if he does play, I’d sniff around on some Sidney Crosby props too. Talk about big game players.
