Collectively, our couches are about to get a workout Saturday.
The first Saturday of the Stanley Cup Playoffs will feature a quadruple header of Game 3s, so make sure you plan accordingly.
All the action will get underway at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT, with the Panthers and Capitals from Washington, D.C., culminating with the Flames and Stars from Dallas at 9:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. MT. All four Saturday games can be seen on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
With that in mind, let’s get to some prop bets to look at for this beautiful slate of hockey games:
PROP 1: Calgary Flames to score the first goal of the game (-140)
After scoring just one goal over the first two games of the series, you know the Flames will be looking to push the pace offensively as the scene shifts to Dallas. Don’t forget, Calgary potted the sixth-most goals (293) in the NHL in the regular season. In addition to that, they were the league leaders when it came to scoring first doing so 54 times. Knowing what we know about coach Darryl Sutter, this team will be ready to play, and I fully expect them to jump on Dallas quickly.
PROP 2: Alex Ovechkin Anytime Goal (+140)
Through two games against the Panthers, Ovechkin is goalless, which means one is surely coming sooner rather than later. I mean, the guy has 780 career goals, I think he knows what he’s doing. Ovechkin has two assists and nine shots on goal thus far in the series. The Capitals are back home, which means they have last change; more time and space for the captain to do his thing. Watch out.
PROP 3: Cale Makar Over 2.5 SOG (-175)
Make no mistake about it, Makar is feeling himself right now – as he should be. The Avs star blueliner threw everything but the kitchen sink at Connor Ingram and the Preds in Game 2 on Thursday night. But seriously, the 23-year-old, who scored the overtime winner, finished the night with a franchise-record 12 shots on goal. This price is steep, but worth your time. Keep shooting, Cale!
PROP 4: Adan Fox Over 0.5 Assists (-110)
With surgery confirmed for Penguins goalie Casey DeSmith, the Rangers can smell blood with Louis Domingue between the pipes for Pittsburgh. Fox was awesome on Thursday night in Game 3; he has a goal and an assist through the first two games of the series. In the regular season, the 24-year-old notched 63 assists in 78 games. Personally, I think Fox is ripe for a signature playoff performance.
