Another night, another two-pack of crucial Game 4’s ahead in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With a win on home ice, the Edmonton Oilers can push the rival Calgary Flames to the brink of elimination. Back on Sunday night, Evander Kane netted a hat trick as Edmonton took a 2-1 series lead with a 4-1 victory.
Meantime on Broadway, the Rangers will try to even their series with the Carolina Hurricanes at two. Igor Shesterkin was the story in Game 3; the Vezina frontrunner made 43 stops to lead New York to a 3-1 win.
Here are some prop bets to consider:
PROP No. 1: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Assists (+120)
You can’t stop Connor McDavid, you can only hope to contain him. And so far, the Flames have been unable to do either. The Oilers captain has nine points in three games in the series and is up 23 points in 10 total playoff games. The McDavid point prop price (Over 1.5 Points / -175) has become too steep for my liking, so that’s why I’m proposing the assist prop instead. The 25-year-old has racked up 12 helpers through this ludicrous six-game point streak, that’s an average of two a game. I’ll play the odds.
PROP No. 2: Matthew Tkachuk Over 2.5 SOG (-150)
Simply put, the Flames need a big effort from Tkachuk tonight. After scoring a hat trick in Game 1, he’s been relatively quiet since tallying just one measly assist. Most important to this prop, the 24-year-old winger has covered the 2.5 number in three of his past four outings, mustering a total of 22 shots on goal. If you’re feeling frisky, you can also look at the Tkachuk anytime goal prop tonight (+165).
PROP No. 3: Carolina Hurricanes to score first (-120)
The Canes are due for a road win, right? They’re 6-0 at home, 0-4 away from PNC Arena. Through 10 playoff games they’ve scored first seven times, and in the regular season they ranked fourth in the league in that statistic. For my money, there’s tons of value to uncover here, especially with the pick’em price attached to this prop tonight.
PROP No. 4: Andrei Svechnikov Over 0.5 Points (+100)
In order for the Hurricanes to finally get that elusive first road win, they’ll need Svechnikov to wake up. The 22-year-old sniper, who had 30 goals and 69 points in 78 regular-season games, has yet to register a point in the series and has just four in 10 total playoff games. Of note, Svechnikov notched five shots on goal in Game 3, perhaps setting the table for a breakout performance.
