The Dallas Stars have inked forward Sam Steel to a one-year contract worth $850,000, the club announced Saturday.
The 25-year-old from Ardrossan, Alta., spent the past season with the Minnesota Wild, collecting a career-best 10 goals and 28 points through 65 games with the club.
"As a developing young player, Sam has consistently taken steps forward each year," said Stars GM Jim Nill, per a team release. "He's become a player who can take on a role in any situation, and we're excited to see him continue to grow over the next year within our organization."
Prior to his run with the Wild, Steel was part of the Anaheim Ducks organization for four years, after the club tabbed him with the 30th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.
Through 262 career games at the NHL level, Steel has amassed 34 goals and 93 total points.
