Dallas Stars defenceman Miro Heiskanen will be out of the lineup "week to week" after sustaining a lower-body injury, coach Peter DeBoer told reporters Friday.
Heiskanen exited Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche after he crashed into goaltender Scott Wedgewood during the third period.
DeBoer said Heiskanen's injury is not season-ending and will not require surgery.
Heiskanen has registered 27 points — four goals and 23 assists — in 37 games this season and leads the team in average ice time with 25:07 minutes per game.
The 24-year-old set a franchise record for a Stars defenceman with 73 points — 11 goals and 62 assists — in 79 games last season.
