Dallas Stars president/CEO Brad Alberts is apologizing to the Vegas Golden Knights after fans littered the ice late in the second period of Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Tuesday.
"On behalf of the Dallas Stars organization, I would like to apologize to the Vegas Golden Knights and the National Hockey League for the actions of a few of our spectators at last night's game," Alberts said. "Their actions were unacceptable and put the safety of the players and fans at risk.
"We take pride in providing the best experience for everyone who enters our arena. The actions of these individuals certainly do not reflect our great city, organization and loyal fan base."
Officials sent the teams to their locker-rooms 21.6 seconds before the second period ended after the fans' actions.
Fans were upset after Stars forward Max Domi was handed penalties for roughing and cross-checking and a 10-minute misconduct for his hit on Nicolas Hague.
The Golden Knights won 4-0 to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
