The Dallas Stars will retire Hall of Famer Sergei Zubov’s No. 56 before a Jan. 28, 2022 game against the Washington Capitals.
The team originally intended to retire Zubov’s number last season but chose to delay the ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Moscow native spent 12 of his 16 seasons with the Stars. Over his career, Zubov scored 152 goals and 771 points in 1,068 regular-season games, and 24 goals and 117 points in 164 playoff games. In Stars franchise history, he ranks third in assists (438) and plus-minus rating (+103), and fifth in games played (839).
Zubov won two Stanley Cups with the Rangers (1994) and Stars (1999) and an Olympic gold medal in 1992. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019.
Zubov will be the sixth player in Stars/ Minnesota North Stars history to have his number retired, joining Neal Broten (7), Bill Goldsworthy (8), Mike Modano (9), Bill Masterton (19) and Jere Lehtinen (26).
